The Florida Council for Safe Communities exists to educate Floridians about issues that impact the safety of their families and communities. We seek to influence safety-related public policy decisions by mobilizing community leaders and concerned citizens across the state to speak out on these important issues.
Our goal is to support public policies that would eradicate the most significant threats to community safety. We want to protect our citizens as well as the tourists on whom our economy depends.
Immigration Reform remains one of the focal points to providing Floridians with Safety, Security and Prosperity.
Become an Active Part in making your community a Safer and Prosperous place for you and your neighbors.
The time for arm-chair politics has come to an end. Let your voice be heard and make a positive impact for generations to come.
Dear State Senators and State Representatives,
Homeowners across the state are bearing the brunt of Florida’s property insurance crisis. Our state already has the third highest property insurance rates in the nation, but more and more frequently, Florida homeowners are receiving notices that their already high property insurance rates are increasing yet again. Even worse, many others are told that their coverage is being cancelled.
Lawsuit abuse is a significant cost driver in Florida’s property insurance market. For years, Florida’s insurance marketplace has been plagued by bad actors in the construction, roofing, public adjusting, and legal industries using shady solicitation and marketing tactics to turn consumers’ insurance policies into a cash cow for themselves.
Abuse of the system by some hurts all Floridians. We are seeing this now in the form of higher insurance costs and less choice in the marketplace.
We encourage you to support SB 2D/HB 1D this special session to protect Florida homeowners, help lower costs, and bring competition back to the Florida marketplace.
Maurice Langston, Chairman
Florida is home to one of the largest percentages of senior citizens in the country. It has become a hunting ground for would be thieves and swindlers using advanced technologies to prey upon our most precious assets. Those who spent their lives making this country what it is today. This simply will not do!
The Florida Council for Safe Communities is working to educate and safeguard our senior citizens by creating identifiers that seniors can use to spot these scam artists, the methods they use and to report them to the proper authorities.
